Born in Vantaa, Finland, in 1975.
Leader and founder of, and main composer for heavy metal cello quartet Apocalyptica (www.apocalyptica.com), the creators of cello based metal music, and the Sibelius Academy Cello Sixtett. Plays a Terzi Antivarius (2½75) and a Bendikt Lang cello (1984), with two bows, made by Wilson/Benedek (1988) and Tourte. Strings of choice are Jargar Forte, and the rosin Liebenzeller Gold IV.
